Isabel C Barrio and David Hik have developed a short Massive Open Online Course (aka micro-MOOC) on sheep grazing in Iceland. The course, titled Sheep in the Land of Fire and Ice consists of a series short videos, reviewing the history, socioeconomic factors and environmental conditions that have influenced grazing management in Iceland.

You can access the course for free here. The course and associated educational materials are available online, through the EdX platform thanks to the University of Iceland.

If you think this is a good idea that could be applied to your research or teaching, please be in touch with Isabel – maybe we can develop this further into a series of herbivory case studies around the Arctic!

Whose scat is that?

Hana Christoffersen, MSc student, and Dr. Robert Hollister of Grand Valley State University have developed educational outreach materials to excite students, from kindergarten to high school, and teach them about Arctic ecosystems. The aim of the poster is for students to understand how researchers study Arctic animals that are difficult to catch: their scat.

Here you can download the poster, cutouts and descriptions.
