This all started back in 2013 at a meeting of the International Tundra Experiment (ITEX) in Davos, Switzerland. Very much inspired by the model of other collaborative tundra research initiatives, like ITEX and ShrubHub, we decided that we had to do something about herbivory!
We organized a workshop at the Arctic Science Summit Week 2014 in Helsinki, where the Herbivory Network was officially born. Since then, we have been getting together at different conferences, field sites and other random locations to discuss tundra herbivory and beyond. It has been an exciting (and productive) journey, and we are sure it will continue to be so!
